Meaning

Cafes have particular significance to my husband and I. Our two main obsessions in life are good coffee and travel, and when the two unite, the magic really happens! We always start planning a new trip while tucked away in one of our favorite cafes, cup of cappuccino in hand, and on our travels we are meticulous about seeking out the best coffee in town. Birds signify travel to me, and the florals are inspired by Russian folk patterns, because our trip to Moscow (where I was born) was one of our most favorite holidays. "Why Not" represents the excited planning and scheming over a cup of coffee, and "Lets Go" follows on as the beginning of another happy adventure.

This work was created for an exhibition curated by Kin and exhibited at The Drawing Room Cafe, April 2016.
